Here’s an old fable for you:
Once the Devil was walking along with one of his cohorts. They saw a man ahead of them pick up something shiny.
“What did he find?” asked the cohort. “A piece of the truth,” the Devil replied. “Doesn’t it bother you that he found a piece of the truth?” asked the cohort. “No,” said the Devil, “I will see to it that he makes a religion out of it.”
This is exactly the way cults and religions are started. They take a truth (oftentimes out of context) and from that they spin an entire belief system. Today, what we have is a bunch of different belief systems teaching that everyone else is wrong while they are the only one who is right. This causes the seekers to get frustrated to the point where they give up seeking. All the while, Satan is smiling. You see, Satan doesn’t need to rid the world of religion.
He simply needs to frustrate the world with many different religions. He does a very good job of being very bad. We must rise above all the noise and boldly proclaim, “Jesus is the only way!” Selah…
